Kontron introduces highest performance VPX computing node based on Intel® Xeon®-D Processor

First eval boards delivered to key customers shows Kontron’s advanced integration capabilities, signals shift in high performance computing architectures for defense systems

Poway, CA August 6, 2015 – A global market leader for embedded computing technology (ECT), Kontron announces the successful design and test of the industry’s highest performance 3U VPX board, and the start of evaluation unit deliveries to its key customers. Based on the advanced 8-core version of the Intel® Xeon®-D processor architecture (Broadwell DE), the highly integrated Kontron VX3058 brings server class computing capabilities to the battlefield with its Dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), high bandwidth PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0, and high speed DDR4 memory. Ruggedized for harsh environments and size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C) optimized, the VX3058 provides breakthrough digital signal processing (DSP) performance. These benefits make it ideal for demanding military server and other high performance embedded computing (HPEC) applications, especially for virtual machine architectures that can take advantage of the extensive capital and operational efficiencies provided by isolated workloads configured to dynamically share common resources.
